1. About the Service
This website provides a free and independently developed research service concerning decisions and orders published by the Unified Patent Court (“UPC”).
The Service may include searchable text, OCR transcriptions, procedural timelines, dispute-family cross-references, metadata, classifications, links, summaries and visualisations independently prepared from decisions and orders made publicly available by the UPC through its public Decisions and Orders website. Dispute-family links are platform inferences from captions, filenames and related-to references; they are not official UPC case families.
The Service is an unofficial research layer. It is not presented as a complete official database of the UPC.
Where paid access is offered, the fee is for Validas’ independently structured research and monitoring layer (timelines, dispute links, profiles, alerts and related tools). It is not a charge for access to public UPC source documents, which remain available from the Court.
2. Independent and Unofficial Service
The Service is operated by Stan Advoka.
Not affiliated with the UPC. The Service is not affiliated with, authorised by, maintained by or endorsed by the Unified Patent Court, its Registry, judges, divisions or staff.
References to the UPC, its divisions and its proceedings are used solely to identify the relevant court, decision or proceeding.
The Service is not an official register, official case-law database, official publication, or legally binding source of the UPC.
3. Source Documents and Independent Data Layer
The Service is based on decisions and orders made publicly accessible by the Unified Patent Court through its Decisions and Orders website.
The operator does not claim ownership of the original UPC decisions and orders. Rights, if any, in those source documents remain with their respective holders.
The searchable OCR text, corrected metadata, procedural timelines, classifications, cross-references, annotations, visualisations, database structure and software provided through the Service constitute an independently created research layer.
The Service is not affiliated with, authorised by or endorsed by the Unified Patent Court. It is not an official or legally binding source.
Public availability of a source document must not be understood as an endorsement of this Service or as a transfer or waiver of any copyright, database right or other right that may apply.
The operator uses the publicly released and, where applicable, anonymised versions of the documents. The Service does not seek to circumvent access restrictions, obtain non-public case-file material or reverse anonymisation applied by the Court.
OCR text, metadata and timelines may be incomplete or inaccurate. Users must verify all relevant information against the decision or order published by the Unified Patent Court.
Where practicable, the Service identifies or links to the corresponding official UPC source.
4. Unofficial Searchable Transcription
The searchable text available through the Service may have been produced using optical character recognition or other machine-assisted processing of the UPC-published source document.
Such text is an unofficial searchable transcription. It may contain missing words, incorrect characters, distorted formulas, incorrect dates, formatting errors or other differences from the source document.
The operator does not seek to extract text from redacted or anonymised areas of a document, nor to publish hidden file metadata, nor to reconstruct identities that the Court has withheld from the public version.
Unofficial searchable transcriptions are research aids only. They are not authentic, certified or official versions of a UPC decision or order. In the event of any discrepancy, the document published by the UPC prevails.
5. Timelines and Editorial Data
Timelines, procedural labels, classifications, summaries, cross-references, statistics and visualisations are independently created research material.
They do not form part of the official court record and must not be attributed to the UPC.
A timeline may reflect the information and publication dates identifiable from publicly available documents. It may not include every procedural event or document in the underlying proceedings.
Where the interface distinguishes a “UPC-published source document” from a “platform classification”, the former refers to the Court’s public publication and the latter to the operator’s independently generated research layer.
6. No Guarantee of Accuracy or Completeness
The Service is provided free of charge on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
Although reasonable care may be taken in processing the source material, the operator does not guarantee that:
- every UPC decision or order is included;
- OCR text, metadata or timelines are error-free;
- information is complete or current;
- links to official sources will remain available; or
- the Service will operate without interruption.
The operator may correct, update, restrict or remove material at any time.
7. No Legal Advice
The Service is provided for general information, education and research purposes only.
It does not constitute legal advice, procedural advice, a legal opinion or a substitute for professional review.
No procedural deadline, litigation decision or legal conclusion should be based solely on information provided through the Service. Users must verify relevant information against the official UPC publication and, where appropriate, obtain professional advice.
8. Permitted Use
Users may use the Service for legitimate legal research, education, professional reference and private study.
Users must not:
- present the Service or its processed content as an official UPC service or record;
- alter or republish content in a misleading manner;
- systematically extract or reproduce the independently created database or a substantial part of it;
- circumvent technical restrictions or interfere with the operation of the Service;
- remove source references or notices;
- use information obtained through the Service for harassment, unlawful profiling or unsolicited contact; or
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
Individual decisions and orders should, where practicable, be cited by reference to the official UPC source.
9. Rights in the Added Data Layer
The operator does not claim ownership of the original UPC decisions and orders.
The independently created elements of the Service—including its database structure, OCR corrections, timelines, classifications, annotations, visualisations, selection and arrangement of data, search functionality and software—may be protected by applicable copyright, database and other intellectual property laws.
The fact that the Service is provided free of charge does not authorise systematic copying, reconstruction, commercial resale or republication of its independently created data layer.
10. Corrections and Removal Requests
Users may report an OCR error, incorrect metadata, inaccurate attribution or other issue by contacting:
A request should identify the relevant page or document and briefly explain the issue.
If a source document is withdrawn, replaced, further anonymised or restricted by the UPC, the operator may update, restrict or remove the corresponding material after becoming aware of the change.
The operator may also correct or remove content where reasonably appropriate, without admitting any legal obligation or liability.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the operator shall not be liable for loss or damage arising from:
- reliance on OCR text, metadata, timelines, summaries or classifications;
- missing, delayed, incomplete or inaccurate information;
- differences between the Service and the official UPC publication;
- external links or third-party content; or
- temporary or permanent unavailability of the Service.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
12. Changes to the Service and These Terms
The operator may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of the Service and may update these Terms where reasonably necessary.
Continued use of the Service after updated Terms are published constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, without prejudice to any mandatory provisions of applicable law.
The competent courts and enforcement offices of Istanbul shall have jurisdiction, except where mandatory law provides otherwise.
